As usual, this was taken from a post on Facebook from a friend. I kind of like it very much and would like to paraphrase it according to my version. Luck is not within your control but work is. Your work can make you become lucky when opportunity comes but luck itself can't make you work better. It takes hard work to achieve greater things instead of luck. You will realize later that working harder can make you get the job done but luck itself will bring you nowhere. That also applies to study where a student that study hard enough will get the desired results instead of merely depending on luck alone.

Soccer - Midweek matches review

This midweek matches saw the elimination of two strong teams in Cup competition - Liverpool in English FA Cup and Barcelona in Spanish Kings Cup. While Barcelona elimination should not be of concern cause they cannot win everything every year after winning six trophies last year. As for Liverpool, this would spell an end of their season as they are already out of Carling Cup and winning the League is almost impossible. More so with both their match winner Gerrard and Torres got injured in the midweek match against Reading. Their only consolation for this season is to win the Europa Cup (EUFA second tier cup competition) Nonetheless, probably it is time up for their coach Benitez as he may be facing the axe soon.

First visit to Bank panel doctor this year

When a person visits a doctor, he/she would expect to be treated and bring home medicine but my case was different. What I got was only one piece of envelope without any medicine. It is not the Medical Certificate that I am bringing home but a referral letter to see a specialist. Felt that the fever, throat infection and rashes was not too serious but she is of the opinion that it is not normal and need to go private hospital for admission, taking a blood test and possible x-ray, etc. No doubt it is the Bank that will be paying the bill but what the panel doctor should do is to treat first instead of direct referral to specialist. Nonetheless, the doctor only treats but Jesus heals.

If you want to find out what your friend, future spouse, children, etc really are, then climb the mountain together. It is probably the best way to discover the character both yours and theirs more than sitting through a movie or drinking coffee together. The above was written in Ps Philip Lyn blog this week. How I fully agree with what he says. Indeed it is better spending time with another party with outdoor activity to test the caracter of another person compared to doing common things in the indoor. Other activity that I can think of testing each others' out is going through White Water Rafting together. It is an exercise that can make you discover the other party more. It is satisfying to have conquered White Water Rafting in Kiulu River and Padas River in Sabah within the same year of 2008.

HSBC Staffs Appraisal 2009

It is the beginning of the year and once again it is staffs appraisal time. It feels good to have four staffs that support you all the year but the headache begins when you have high performers in your team. This is where you need to crack your head and think back what each staffs has done throughout the whole year. Indeed their positive actions need to be commented and their negative reaction need to be minimize. Nonetheless, whatever that is given should be a true reflection of the staffs performance throughout the year without having any fear and favor to anybody.

Signing off RM10.0m in Five minutes

It is a challenging day today to sign off Islamic drawdown of RM10.0m in five minutes. It is no joke when you get the relevant approval at 3.55pm and the cut off time for the next department is 4.00pm. It has to be drawndown the same because the account manager has booked the rates with Treasury. Nonetheless, Payment services need to play their part to ensure that the Inter Bank transfer can proceed the same. Hopefully, such situation will be kept to minimum in the future as the stress that we are going through is no laughing matter. If it is a daily affair, the blood pressure will definitely goes up and will die in short period of time.

English Premier League this weekend

Most of the matches was cancelled due to snow. After all it is winter time over there. They cancel not because the pitch is not playable but for the interest of the supporters. Only two matches was played and both ended in draw on yesterday. Looks like Chelsea will be up there laughing even though they are not playing cause their genuine title contenders Man United only drew with Birmingham while Arsenal also drew with Everton. Liverpool also can close the gap on the leaders as they continue to fight for the fourth Champions League spot. Hopefully the weather will be better next weekend for the games to be on

Malaysian Soccer League starts today

I may be one of the few patriotic person that follows our Malaysian League. Since there will be less English Premier League matches this weekend, it will be good to watch the Charity Shield between Negeri Sembilan and Selangor. I am just hopeful they will draw in 90 minutes so that we can enjoy the excitement of a pemalty shootout. Of course playing at the same time would be my beloved homestate team against Johor. I am convinced they can win even though playing away in their first M-League match this season. After all it is time to win back some cups after the treble in 2007 and 2008 but had to endure a dissappointing season last year playing without the imports. However it is time for my beloved home state team to bounce back to our rightful position as Super League, FA Cup and Malaysia Cup Cchampions.

Arson attack on Three churches

It is saddened when you hear three churches was set on fire recently. Probably it is due to the reaction from various groups that is not happy with the Court decision allowing Herald magazine to use the word Allah which they claim it should on exclusive use for Muslims. We may not know how much the damages are but one thing we do know is Jesus is Supreme and He is still sitting at the right hand of the Father. Many weeks ago in my blog, I wrote on God is raising the church above the confusion of this Land. Today, we see that many political stood up and stand in unity condemning the attack. None knows of who is behind all these incident but all come in one accord to say that such attack should not be tolerated. Indeed, it is time for the church to stand up and be counted in these trying times and their action will show the world that he is Jehovah Shalom - The Prince of peace.

Anugerah Juara Lagu 2009

Looks like the event will be held at Stadium Putra Bukit Jalil KL on this coming Sunday night. Will it be a solo artist or group that will win for last year? Looks like it will be 11 solo compared to 3 groups but more does not mean the solo artist will win. Will it be man or lady artist that will win this year? It will 10 men artist while four representing the ladies. As I say above, more does not mean that the male artist will win. Will it be new reality TV artist that will win or seasoned artist that have recording albums? Will it be Semenanjung Malaysia artist or East Malaysia(Sabah or Sarawak) artist that will win? Whatever your choice, I will go for Cinta Adam dan Hawa - Misha Omar or Pakai Buang - Stacy. Best wishes for all of them and hope they will keep those who watch it entertained even though I may not be around to watch it at all.

Cricket - 2nd test Australia vs Pakistan

I am supporting Pakistan for this second test even though they lost the first test by a big margin. Looks like Pakistan was on the right track on day after bowl out Australia for a low total. Their batting was good having taking more than two hundred runs first innings lead. They was in a strong position to win the test after day three as Australia only managed to take an eighty runs lead wih only two wicket in hand. There was even commentary that Pakistan will take the last two Australia wicket early of day four and overtake the total before lunch. However, that was not the case. The Australia batsman managed to stay longer than expected on the crease and put in a reasonable total for their bowlers to defend. Nonetheless, it is an achievable total for Pakistan to win the match but the final result is Pakistan lost in spite of the good foundation laid after day three.

Herald magazine can use the word Allah

The High Court declared on 31 Dec 2009 that the Catholic published magazine can use the word Allah in their publication and the word is not only for exclusive use to Islam. What a beautiful New Year gift we receive as we usher in a new Decade of Destiny. My sincere appreciation to all those that fought for it so that my generation can use the word Allah referring to our Supreme God. May this news be an encouragement to Ps Jerry During who is still fighting and the case is still ongoing on behalf of those in Sabah and Sarawak so that our Anak Negeri can continue the word Allah. English FA Cup Third Round Review

English Premier League take a break this weekend and it was substituted by FA Cup Third Round matches. Liverpool started the top four campaign with a draw against Reading. Look like they will have to play additional one match with the replay at home. I thought it was a negative result but at least it is better than Man United that lost at home to Leeds United the following day. It was only the second time since twenty over years since Alex Ferguson take charge of Man United that they lost at third round. Needless to say, Chelsea score a convincing win and Arsenal too proceed to the next round.

Birthday and Christmas celebration is not over until today

It came as a surprise to receive present at church today even though birthday has passed for fifteen days and Christmas has passed for nine days. Probably due to missing church for last weekend and it seems like a long time away from In Touch. I did not know how serious it was until the pastors come forward and say how they seems I missed church for a long time. It is not a good thing when people notice you are not in church for a long time when you are actually missing for a week. Nonetheless, it shows that the church cares and love me unconditionally. I am proud to be part of In Touch and glad to start the year bringing a visitor to our Community service. Looks like the aunty will stay long as she enjoyed herself and managed to hang loose with the Jinjang folks. Indeed, In Touch is a happening place and Love is flying in the air.

God First Family Next

The above will be the theme of this year. I will put my family ahead of ministry this year as it was alarming to name the wrong parents on my direct cousins during another cousin wedding recently. Probably it is time to redeem back the lost time of not spending time with them. For a start I should be back for Cheng Beng this year. I think it will not be a good testimony for not knowing my grandparents grave. Not to be there praying with them but just to be there as a matter of respect for the dead. Moreover, it does not look good to leave my parents at shopping complex for few hours whenever I have church activities. I should be walking with them instead of being at other place serving God. Last but not least I should be back to hometown whenever any family members admit into hospital, family events, etc.

Blessed Birthday Samuel Tan

Such a blessing to have usher in the new year 2010 with One United Family and my privilege to be with them for Samuel's birthday. It is with heartfelt appreciation to Him listening to the testimony of your birth and His goodness will continue to be with you. Looking forward step into Bukit Tinggi Jusco first time for a movie session with your whole family later today. May His blessings is with you always and every success in the things that you do and hope to spend more time with you all in the coming years. I am sure 2010 will be better for you than 2009 and wish that the joy that you have given to others be returned to you on this special day and always.
